ESG responsibility

Midwich Norfolk Wildlife TrustWe have made further progress in Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) matters during the year including a significant step up in our focus of our impact on the environment.

We were proud to launch several new initiatives in 2022 for our colleagues, one of them is our new Electric Vehicle (EV) scheme which enables Midwich employees to drive a brand new, cost-effective electric vehicle for much less. We also installed EC charging points across our UK sites to support this.

We have also joined Norfolk Wildlife Trust as a Gold-level ‘Investor in Wildlife’. As well as providing an annual donation towards the conservation charity’s work, our staff will be volunteering on NWT reserves this summer, taking part in practical conservation tasks to help ensure these special wildlife sites continue to provide a home to vulnerable species.

We are also supporting an innovative landscape-scale conservation project in South Norfolk. NWT’s Claylands Wilder Connections initiative brings communities, landowners and conservationists together to help wildlife by restoring, reconnecting and improving vital spaces for nature across this distinctive landscape.

As part of their involvement in the project, Midwich are sponsoring 600 trees and supplying staff volunteers in the autumn to plant them on farmland near Diss. The new trees will provide food and shelter for birds, mammals and invertebrates, and support species such as owls, bats and hedgehogs to thrive by acting as ‘wildlife corridors’, enabling them to move throughout the landscape between important areas of natural habitat.

Our pledge in 2022 | To complete our baseline carbon audit and report on our carbon reduction programme.

Our commitment is to focus on positive impacts on the environment and to reduce the negative impacts. We are striving to become the first carbon neutral AV Distributor. We hope to achieve this by 2025.
